Creative Writing

Fountain Pen and InkwellWriters-Alive arrange distance learning courses for writers at varying stages of their development. The Basic Introductory course is supported by a definitive handbook that outlines each session of the course and identifies a variety of tasks that the writer should complete. This course is specifically designed for new writers who are at the stage of exploring whether they want to be a writer, or whether, indeed they can write. The course can be carried out at the candidate’s own pace and all work completed is appraised by the Writers-Alive editorial team. Advice is also given on where suitable pieces of prepared work could be offered to publications for consideration for publication.

Basic Introductory course fees : £75 – includes course handbook, professional hints and tips on developing a career as a writer, and subscriber membership to Writers-Alive for 12 months. Email contact with a writer adviser to support the development of work by the candidate.

We can also offer specific one to one advisory courses on selected aspects of writing for writers who have already decided on their chosen writing field, but who require advice and support to develop their personal work towards publication.

Examples of one to one courses: Developing fiction genre themes/writing for newspapers and magazines/developing a poetry portfolio/researching historical text or fiction themes. These courses are designed to specific requirements, therefore are unique to the candidate registering for these more advanced courses.

Course fees for 10 sessions - £75 – includes course handbook, professional hints and tips on developing a career as a writer, and subscriber membership to Writers-Alive for 12 months. Email contact with a writer adviser to support the development of work by the candidate.
